Encore Construction Completes Au Bon Pain in DC
Annapolis, MD, October 5, 2007 – Encore Construction, Inc., an Annapolis, MD-based general contractor specializing in restaurant and retail construction, has recently completed a $670-thousand contract for the construction of the newest Au Bon Pain restaurant located at 1100 13th Street, NW in Washington, DC. Au Bon Pain’s eighteenth restaurant located in the nation’s capital opened its doors on October 4, 2007
“Our restaurant concept is expanding quickly through company-operated and more than 65 franchised units in the US,” said Mario DeAngelis, Director of Construction at Au Bon Pain. “We chose Encore Construction to construct our DC location. They have a great reputation and they brought the right experience to the project.”
The architect that designed the new location is Millennium Design Associates, Inc. of Braintree, Massachusetts, who has previously completed over a dozen project designs for the restaurant chain.
The 4,000 sq. ft. full-service restaurant broke ground in late July with a project duration time of eight weeks.
“This was a great project for our company. We worked with a great project team from Au Bon Pain. It’s not often a project is this well organized, so that made it a win-win for both our teams,” said Joe McCafferty, Project Manager. McCafferty is also Encore’s Vice President of Construction and one of the company’s three founding partners.
Founded in 1978, the first Au Bon Pain was a small urban café selling fresh baguettes and croissants in downtown Boston. In July of 2005, a number of veteran employees completed a management buyout for 75% ownership of the entire Au Bon Pain Corporation. Today, with more than two hundred locations currently operating in the United States, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand, Au Bon Pain has grown to become internationally recognized in the urban scene for its meals, baked goods and catering services. |
