Washington, DC, February 14, 2008 – Encore Construction, Inc., an Annapolis, MD-based general contractor specializing in restaurant construction, broke ground this past Monday, February 11, on the first ever IHOP franchise in Washington, DC. The new IHOP will be located in The Shops at Park Village at 1523 Alabama Ave. in Southeast Washington, DC.
Encore was contracted by IHOP franchise owner and operator, The Jackson Investment Company (JIC), a real-estate developer headquartered in Washington, DC, to construct a one-story, 4,972 sq. ft., free-standing building along with site improvements to accommodate the IHOP restaurant. This will be the first of 3 IHOPs JIC will be developing and operating in Washington, DC over the next 4 years as part of a Multi-Store Development Agreement struck with IHOP Corp.
"We were happy to accommodate Jackson Investment Company’s franchise needs and to be a part of IHOP’s breakthrough into the DC market," said Chris Sutherland, Project Manager and founding partner of Encore Construction. “Development is really booming in the Southeast neighborhood and Encore is excited to play a part in its revitalization.”
The $1.5 million project is expected to be completed in June of this year and will have a dining capacity of 184 people. |
