Fast-Casual Dining Expands in Mid-Atlantic with Encore Construction, Inc.

Au Bon Pain, Brown Bag and Le Pain Quotidien open new locations in the DC area

Washington, D.C. (March 2009) – Encore Construction, Inc., the Mid-Atlantic region’s premier restaurant contractor, is pleased to announce the regional expansion of fast-casual dining favorites Au Bon Pain, Brown Bag, and Le Pain Quotidien in the Washington, D.C. area.

”New Au Bon Pain, Brown Bag and Le Pain Quotidien locations brings increased access to affordable and comfortable dining for residents and visitors to the Washington, DC area,” said John Klakamp, President of Encore Construction, Inc. “We are excited to be a part of the hospitality industry’s continuous expansion and community development projects in DC-area neighborhoods.

Located at 1325 Second Street NE, Au Bon Pain is housed in the new Courtyard Marriott Hotel in northeast Washington, DC and offers well-situated access to the concept’s personalized fresh menu choices to hotel guests, Gallaudet University students and staff, and neighborhood residents. As the first tenant space project in the building, the 2,200 square foot property features seating for 30-plus with future plans for patio seating. Au Bon Pain at the Courtyard Marriot is slated to open in April 2009.

Encore and Boston-based Au Bon Pain enjoy a long, successful relationship. The NE Washington store is Encore’s fourth Au Bon Pain contract in the last 18 months, which includes two completed and operating stores in Pittsburgh, PA. Also in April 2009, Encore will complete construction of Brown Bag, located at 1735 North Lynn Street in Arlington, VA. Brown Bag will offer signature “cuisine on the fly” to residents and businesses in the Rosslyn neighborhood. The 1,295 square foot restaurant features imperial, mosaic and accent ceramic tiles throughout. The project marks Encore’s first Brown Bag location. Featuring made-to-order salads, specialty noodle bowls, and grilled and stuffed sandwiches, Brown Bag has three additional locations in the DC area. Location details, restaurant and catering menus and hours are available at www.brownbagonline.com.

With construction by Encore completed in 2008, Le Pain Quotidien’s two newest and currently operating locations bring a fast-casual European style patisserie and boulangerie to the Spring Valley NW and Capitol Hill SE neighborhoods of Washington. At over 5,000 square feet, the Spring Valley outlet features stained glass, arched walkways and beautiful hardwood floors. The Capitol Hill store features patio seating for 50+ right around the corner from DC’s acclaimed Eastern Market. Both locations include Le Pain Quotidien’s signature large communal table – perfect for enjoying your meal in the company of neighbors.
