Commercial Construction – What’s on the Floor?

Check out some flooring suggestions for your next commercial construction project.

Quality craftsmanship during your commercial construction project can help your investment last. Selecting the most suitable materials for your construction project can bring longevity to your space as well. One of those materials is flooring and by making smart flooring choices you can save on future re-flooring costs and stave off the look of wear-and-tear. For your next commercial construction project, consider these durable flooring options.

Restaurant Construction

Restaurant flooring typically requires two choices: one for the dining room and one for the kitchen. Depending on the restaurant type and ambiance, you have many durable flooring choices at your disposal. Luxury vinyl tile is a versatile and cost-effective material, and it can withstand foot-traffic and occasional spills. Further, this flooring option comes in a variety of sizes, colors, and patterns to mimic more polished-looking ceramic tiles or wood floors.

A popular commercial kitchen flooring option is quarry tile. Properly installed quarry tile can withstand heat, spills, traffic, and grease buildup. This hardwearing clay-based tile can last even longer with daily cleaning, a given for any kitchen environment.

Retail Construction

Retail commercial construction projects tend to have the most flexibility in durable flooring options. While carpets and hardwood are familiar options, laminate, polished concrete, and vinyl tiles work wonderfully too.  Ultimately, your flooring choice depends mostly on the store design of the retail space. For a more elevated shopping mall space, use resilient and aesthetically pleasing terrazzo flooring.

Office Construction

For comfortable, cost-effective, stylish, and long-lasting office flooring, carpet tiles are a great choice. Low-pile and soft commercial carpet tile withstands regular foot-traffic and cleaning. Modern manufacturing of carpet tiles has also made them more moisture-resistant as well. Carpet gives any office setting a welcoming feel and professional appearance.  Additionally, it can withstand wear from heavy office furniture. Should the tiles become worn out, each section can be replaced individually instead of having to replace the entire carpet.

Healthcare Construction

Epoxy flooring is a popular option for use in laboratory and hospital settings. This flooring withstands high-traffic, moisture, and abrasions due to its strong epoxy coating. Another alternative for some healthcare facilities, like physical therapy centers, would be rubber flooring. Also found in many gyms, rubber flooring is slip-resistant, noise-reducing, durable and offers a great deal of cushioning when walked upon. As a result, healthcare employees, who are constantly on their feet, will enjoy the softer feel of rubber flooring.
